Immerse yourself in the stories behind some of history’s most famous colors from the world’s largest collection of historical pigments—all in our newly launched A History of Color: An Audio Tour of the Forbes Pigment Collection. Narayan Khandekar, senior conservation scientist and director of the Straus Center for Conservation and Technical Studies, and conservation coordinator Alison Cariens narrate the tour, which also connects pigments with works in the collections.

Making a very welcome return are the popular Ho Family Student Guide Tours. Join us online on Thursday, September 24, for our kick-off tour at 8pm and again on Saturday, September 26, at 11am. The tours will run weekly on Thursdays and Saturdays and are free to everyone. No registration required.

She will take a closer look at small Greco-Roman objects that depict sirens.
• Get the inside scoop on the stories behind some of history’s most famous colors through the new Forbes Pigment Collection audio guide. We’ve also compiled a list of articles and videos related to the pigments for those who want to dig deeper.
• In an Art Study Center Seminar this Friday, September 25, conservators Sue Costello and Georgina Rayner will describe how museums handle art made from plastic. This event is free to all, but registration is required.
• Join us for a special seminar on Saturday, September 26, when we’ll consider how looking at art can help high school students envision a future for themselves in medicine.
• On Friday, October 9, reconstruct the elaborate painting process of British artist Albert Moore. This Art Study Center Seminar is open to all, but registration is required.
