In honor of Juneteenth, our curatorial fellows have selected works of art by Black artists and others engaging histories of enslavement, emancipation, and inequality in the United States. The article below is the first of a three-part series placing works from the Age of Emancipation in dialogue with the ongoing fight for racial justice today.
