The Washington Examiner has launched a new campaign, “Restoring America.” Editor in Chief Hugo Gurdon argues that our nation is in the midst of great turmoil and that a restoration of the American “unum” – the principles, traditions, and virtues Americans should share in common – must take place. “Restoring America,” Gordon says, will bring “attention in news reporting, commentary, and video to” the raging “debate over the direction of the country” and supply solutions to the “necessary task of returning America to robust good health.” “Restoring America,” he continues, will teach the important habits of character and principles that define republican citizenship, which include patriotism and national unity, individual responsibility, free speech and the freedom to worship, standing up for America’s interests on the world stage, and putting power back into the people’s hands rather than bureaucrats. “Restoring America” already features notable articles from friends of the American Civics portal, including civil rights veteran Bob Woodson and Hillsdale College’s Matthew Spalding.
