With the inauguration barely a week away, Energy Realism continues to look at potential energy policies under the incoming Biden administration – and who would benefit.

In light of the Hunter Biden revelations, critics wonder whether America’s leading adversary has compromised Joe Biden. Christopher C. Hull asks: “What if the real winner of November’s presidential election was Red China?” Daniel Turner also reports that China could prosper under a Biden administration, especially if the administration blocks extraction of America’s abundant shale resources, thus leading to greater dependence on China – a likely scenario, given some of Biden’s appointments. Frank Lasee, for instance, reminds us of the curious case of John Kerry, with his long and notable track record of global warming alarmism.

James Marks shows how anti-oil and anti-gas policies could erode American military power. Rather than penalizing American shale producers, the Biden administration should work with them to advance our national interests. Biden’s goal to install a massive fleet of electric vehicles, for instance, raises serious questions. Geoffrey Pohanka relates his own experiences of using an electric car, and they’re not encouraging. The battery-powered machines are more expensive and less environmentally friendly than advertised. Another crucial drawback – one little discussed – is the amount of time required to charge them when we’re away from home.
