Energy Realism this past week examined the obvious importance of more U.S. oil and gas production. American national security is now at stake.

Craig Rucker realizes the problems of “woke” when it comes to energy. It blocks the production of our most important fuels: oil and natural gas. The Biden administration, Congress, and the American people need to start dealing with the real human crises we face right now, in the real world, and return to the simple, basic policy of unleashing America’s enormous energy potential. Benjamin Zycher explains why the goal should always be to produce more here at home. For example, climate progressives should know that we have the cleanest energy production in the world, so their apparent goal to rely on others contradicts their own agenda. Paul Steidler also details this climate necessity to produce more energy at home. The staggering pollution from Russia’s pre-war, largely unregulated oil and natural gas industry is actually getting even worse. It is essential to support our dynamic and technologically innovative oil and gas companies.

Daniel Turner says that this anti-development obsession is all part of the ongoing overreach by Democrats. Biden and progressives often label climate change an “existential threat,” yet Joe Manchin recognized a more immediate problem: the ongoing war in Ukraine and Putin’s dreams of military conquest. Our Essential Reading this week from the Centre for Policy Studies brings greens this much-needed reality check: every serious environmentalist should favor fracking. This has become so clear that developing and sharing shale technologies must now become an immediate global goal, especially as a counter to Putin.
