Energy Realism this past week chopped up the very obvious problems of what greens still somehow deem “alternative” energy, while also sticking up for the development path of the developing countries. Western elitism and climate hypocrisy need not apply. The great Marlo Lewis gets us rolling this week by highlighting RealClearEnergy’s recent report from Joseph Toomey. Energy inflation from “progressive” climate policy has been by design: artificially increase the cost of fossil fuels to make “green” renewables and electric cars more enticing. In fact, Toomey marshals overwhelming evidence that energy inflation is a core feature of President Biden’s climate agenda. Indeed, the administration, seems woefully unprepared for just about anything in the energy space. And we should thus all be concerned about the non-stop cyber threat coming from China, Russia, Iran, and other adversaries around the world. Leo Simonovich & Amit Yoran look at stepping up resistance in the energy sector. In order to “fight climate change,” the Biden administration demands that we become more electrified across entire sectors of the economy but there is scant evidence that they have the know-how to secure our systems. And no matter how you slice it, high cost, less reliable energy like wind and solar provide the exact opposite of the stable and predictable electricity that we need. We should also realize that the still developing world, thankfully, is becoming increasingly detached from the West’s climate obsession. These poor countries are simply too damn poor and too damn energy-deprived to block access to the very fossil fuels that supply over 80% of the West’s energy. Sorry greens, but fossil fuels will continue to dominate because they are way cheaper and more reliable. Vijay Jayaraj explains why Vietnam and other hugely populated, energy-hungry Asian countries are turning back to coal. While a lot of them may promote “let’s go green” (to get access to western “green climate funds), the truth is that they know privately that fossil fuels are the only path forward. The one-sided media, of course, is in on the green act too. Robert Bryce exposes Politico Europe, who claims that Vladimir Putin is somehow turning Europe “more green.” The fact is that European countries are scrambling for all of the hydrocarbons that they can find and that all of them are racing to refill their natural gas storage as rapidly as possible before winter sets in. As it turns out, wind and solar are nowhere near “alternative.” In the News AEA Ian Schwartz, RCPolitics Alex Kimani, Oil Price WSJ Zachary Shahan, CleanTechica Joe McDonald, ABC News Sarah Hunt, Bl Tsvetana Paraskova, Oil Price Jeremy Beaman, Washington Examiner Riham Alkousaa, Reuters Chris Melore, Study Finds Jeremy Beaman, Washington Examiner Daily Kos Robert Bryce, RealClearEnergy Rystad Energy, Oil Price Fox News Sen.
