The Motor City's music scene is thriving, and Dazzle is making it possible to see some of Detroit's very best jazz and blues artists.  Enjoy a week of music from Detroit with Saxophonists Dave McMurray and James Carter, legendary poet-writer-activist John Sinclair, and "Detroit's Queen of the Blues" - singer Thornetta Davis.

Dave McMurray Trio

Dave McMurray’s music is brimming with power, fluent melodicism and tons of swagger. McMurray plays tenor and soprano saxes with funky, bluesy, swinging mastery. McMurray’s immersion in the rich musical heritage of the Motor City echoes in every note he plays.

John Sinclair

Legendary poet-writer-activist John Sinclair is a legendary figure of the Detroit music, art, and literary scenes.  The stories John tells with his enthralling spoken word performances bring light, life and shape to legendary figures of jazz and blues like Monk, Trane and Roosevelt Sykes.

GJai's Jook Joint
March 28th, 9 PM
G’Jai hails from Detroit and formed the Jook Joint Band in Michigan in 2009.  G’Jai is based in Colorado now, and she will be bringing her soulful vocals and deep blues to the stage with Tom Worrell as music director.

Thornetta Davis

“Detroit’s Queen of the Blues” and multi-talented International singer and songwriter, Thornetta Davis, has excited and wowed audiences all over the world. Her voice is strong, commanding, melodic and smooth. She tells her stories with an incredibly evocative delivery and leaves her audiences wanting more.
