Summer Knitting Patterns: Let’s Knit Up Some Sun!
I knit in public all the time. I take my knitting everywhere—what else am I supposed to do in the dentist’s waiting room? They only have Car & Driver and Highlights Magazine, and after I do the picture search, I pull out my knitting. (Who’s with me on still loving the picture search in Highlights?) Anyway … The weather is warming, but that won’t stop me from carting my knitting around. I’ll just switch to summer knitting projects made from yarns like linen, bamboo, and even wool in sock-weight yarn.

Deb Gerish, the editor of Love of Knitting , is a big knit-in-public fan, too, and she’s all about yarns that are weather-appropriate. Read more!

Bobbins and Blini and Amazing Lace Shawls
Have you ever tried knitting intarsia? Have you ever tried knitting intarsia with 13 bobbins in use across one row? Have you ever tried knitting intarsia with 13 bobbins across one row, while working seamless, modular construction methods and following intricate lace charts?

How about working those lace charts from memory at the same time as all the above?

This is the amazing skill that Russian knitter Olga Fedorova mastered as a cottage-industry shawl knitter in Orenburg, Russia, during the mid to late twentieth century. Read more!

Knitting the Anna Cowl
I was smitten from the moment the Anna Cowl arrived at Interweave HQ. I wore it around the office constantly and it was the only sample from the new knit.wear I took to TNNA as an issue preview (separation anxiety). The large, voluptuous, lace cowl can be styled so many different ways and basically serves as an adult version of a security blanket. As the months crept on I had to face a harsh reality: I would eventually have to send the Anna Cowl back to Sarah Wilson, the designer of my beloved new accessory. Read more!
Learn to Knit: My First Hat and Glove Set
Learning to knit can be a daunting task if you're not sure where to start. What should you make? What kind of yarn should you use? What tools do you need? It can be a lot to think about all at once, but in this course, Lauren Riker, the talented lady behind Girly Knits, helps you make all of these decisions and gets you knitting stylish and fun accessories right away. Fresh Spring Knitting Patterns!
Things at Interweave Knits are so busy and crazy right now, and I have to admit that I love that. We have some exciting things in the works, and in the meantime there are new spring knitting patterns in the Interweave store for individual sale. Sunday marked the official beginning of spring, though just a few days in we got an actual blizzard here in Fort Collins. Happy spring, Colorado! I’m looking to these spring patterns to keep me going until it actually feels like spring outside. Read more!
Free Knit Cowl Pattern, and a Sweepstakes!
A bunch of us at Interweave are celebrating National Craft Month with a blog hop. For my entry in the hop, I wanted to give you a free pattern, so I looked back on the designs I’ve done over the past few months, and I remembered a knit cowl pattern that I “designed”; it was so simple, I can hardly call it a design with a strait face! Here’s the story of how my Quickie Seed-Stitch Knit Cowl pattern came about. Read more!
