Crews began pouring what will be the surface of the new bridge Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel Expansion Project last week, but much of the progress being made is underground.

The $3.8 billion project is still on schedule to be completed in November 2025, according to project manager Rob Gianna, despite early delays associated with the pandemic-induced supply chain issues. The project involves widening I-64 from two lanes in either direction to four, and adding two two-lane tunnels next to the existing tunnel.

On Feb. 23, the Kyiv City Ballet flew to Paris for a tour of France that was supposed to last two weeks.

They never went home.

The next day, Russia invaded Ukraine with troops and bombs, launching a war that seemed possible yet unbelievable when the dance company left the country. Most of its members still don’t feel safe returning.

Buzz Franchise Brands is launching another brand after 10 years in the franchiser business.

The company, known for launching and developing franchise brands in the home service industry starting with Mosquito Joe in 2012, has added Grand Illuminations, a holiday lighting and décor brand, to its growing portfolio.

Chief Operating Officer Brian Garrison will serve as Grand Illuminations’ president. He said in a news release that the growing demand for holiday lighting services is encouraging and the season-based Grand Illuminations model is an effective complement to Buzz’s other brands.

Buzz plans to have 10 open franchise locations for the 2022 holiday season and a corporate territory in Virginia.
