OZY’s been writing a lot about the fashion industry lately, and specifically about attempts to make the famously profligate manufacturing sector more sustainable. Everlane, a brand that describes itself as basic, has its own take on that: The company has promised to completely remove new plastic from its supply chain by 2021, and it’s already marketing these fleeces (pictured), made from recycled polyester. |  WHAT TO LISTEN TO |  | Terrible, Thanks for Asking — Grief on Tape. This is not a podcast to listen to while running or working or trying to get anything else done. The stories here are crushingly, cry-at-your-kitchen-counter sad, starting with the very first episode, in which host Nora McInerny recounts the loss of her husband to a brain tumor. The stories aren’t all about death — some are about assault, disease, all the worst things we go through as humans. If that doesn’t sound like fun … well, it isn’t. But McInerny and her guests are lively, engaging, fascinating even, and the way they deal with and deconstruct grief is refreshing.
That’s really what it’s all about: an honest discussion of grief, of our worst moments, of the ways we take care of ourselves and learn to cope. You may not be able to binge this — the heart can only take so much — but you’ll devour it nonetheless. |  |
