|  WHAT TO WATCH |   | The Bisexual — What If Girls Were Better and Less Whitewashed? Writer-director-actress Desiree Akhavan had a feel-good hit earlier this year with coming-out coming-of-age film The Miseducation of Cameron Post. But the real treasure is The Bisexual, which premiered on Hulu this month, in which Akhavan gets to flex her comedic muscles playing a woman who breaks up with her girlfriend after a decade and finds herself navigating the world of dating men. Akhavan squares off against the stigmatization of bisexuals while delivering incredible physical comedy. |  SUGGESTED BY:

| Suspiria — Better Than the Original? It’s hard to top the 1977 Dario Argento horror classic, but this remake is phenomenal, as is Tilda Swinton playing three separate roles. The new film has been reset in 1970s Berlin and explores not just a creepy ballet school full of witches but Cold War German society as well. |  SUGGESTED BY:

| Terrace House — Big Brother But Not Terrible. Wholesome reality TV is the future, and you can watch it on Netflix. The premise of this Japanese show: Three men and three women are living their normal daily lives, but they have to live in a house together. The cinematography is especially perfect. If you can’t get enough (and you won’t be able to), check out No Script at All, a podcast where two friends talk through every episode. |  SUGGESTED BY:

| | | | |  WHAT TO EAT |  | Cafe Jacqueline — A Breath of Fresh Air. Get ready for soufflé, because if you’re going to Cafe Jacqueline, you are having soufflé. This tiny upscale San Francisco French eatery has a single chef, Jacqueline, to whom you should introduce yourself as you pass through the kitchen on your way to the bathrooms. She’s the one who’ll be making the best soufflés of your life. They’re enormous cloud-like affairs that serve at least two and probably four people — which is good, at $28-$60 per soufflé. Go for the Roquefort (or the cauliflower, if blue cheese isn’t your thing), though you could shell out for the lobster if you want. We won’t judge you for ordering the most expensive thing on the menu.
What’s next? Another soufflé, duh. For dessert, you have a huge number of options, but our favorites are lemon and Grand Marnier. Enjoy the fancy dessert spoons to eat it straight out of the dish, then fight your tablemates for the last spoonfuls of pillowy sweetness. |  SUGGESTED BY:
