  Every day thousands of migrants pass through the U.S. Southern border. Some travel as far as 1,000 miles, walking through deserts and carrying water jugs and the small possessions they need to start a new life. More than 400 died on the journey U.S. last year, according to the United Nations. For many, the motivation for risking their lives stems from corruption, crime and poverty - problems that have plagued Mexico and Central American countries for years.
