Three Common Pie Problems and 
How to Avoid Them

Pie season is beginning.  Avoid these three problems, follow the recipes, and chances are--you'll have perfect pies.

1. "I can't make a good crust!"
That's the most common problem. There's a simple solution: Get a pie crust mix.


2. "My pies have soggy bottoms."
Another simple solution--get a dark pan--though the next solution helps avoid soggy bottoms.


3. By the time my pies are baked--especially pumpkin--the edges are overdone."
Yep. The edges always bake faster--unless they're protected by a pie crust shield.  With a pie crust shield, you can bake your pies longer--which helps the soggy bottoms.
