Fresh snow for a new year. Most all of Minnesota is covered in white. Snow cover is heavy with one to two feet in most of central and northern Minnesota. Up to 8 inches cover the ground in parts of southwest Minnesota.

Three slain in the Twin Cities metro within 11 hours. A fatal shooting of a woman occurred around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Minneapolis, followed by a shooting death just after 2 a.m. in St. Paul, and a stabbing death in Minneapolis just before 5 a.m. The investigations come after a heightened homicide tally in 2019 for both cities.

Good news for Minnesota sports fans. The Minnesota Golden Gophers upset Auburn Tigers in the Outback Bowl by a score of 31-24. And the Minnesota Wild will host the Winter Classic in 2021 at Target Field. That's right. Outdoors. The way hockey is meant to be played.

Three slain in the metro through the New Year night
Three deaths that occurred within 11 hours are under investigation by Minneapolis and St. Paul police departments. The investigations come after a heightened homicide tally in 2019 for both cities. “What we would like to think is that we can turn the page on what was a violent year and move on from there,” said St. Paul Police spokesperson Steve Linders, “but for us, the hard work of addressing violence related to guns doesn't begin or end at a calendar year."
