Volvo to reopen plant May 11 Volvo Cars is planning to reopen its Ridgeville plant on May 11, almost a month later than it initially planned. The company closed the production site on March 26 because of the coronavirus with plans to reopen April 14. Volvo extended the closure, however, to protect the health of employees. A company spokeswoman did not provide further details about the reopening plans. Volvo employs approximately 1,500 people at its Berkeley County plant. S.C. unemployment claims drop for 2nd straight week For the week ending April 25, 65,159 claims were filed, down 7,957 from the previous week. In the past six weeks, 406,889 claims have been filed, according to the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce. |
