Property reassessment notices mailed out

The Charleston County Assessor’s Office has mailed out approximately 195,000 notices informing residential property owners of their state-mandated reassessed tax value and any other tax changes. Tax bills will follow in the fall.

S.C. unemployment insurance payments top $4 billion

In the past 26 weeks, 739,643 initial claims have been filed, according to the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce. For the week ending Sept. 12, 4,283 claims were filed, down 830 from the previous week.

10-day virtual Mount Pleasant business expo starts Monday

The Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce’s Business and Community Expo starts online Monday and lasts through the end of September. The online event includes vendor booths, prizes and special offers. Attendees can use the event app to learn about Mount Pleasant businesses. “The global pandemic and challenges surrounding COVID-19 have presented significant obstacles and challenges for an in-person event,” said Michael Cochran, Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce board member and Expo Committee chairman. “The Expo Committee made the decision to look at alternatives to postponing, or canceling the event, and adapt to the changes, or pivot.” Click for information about the expo.
