Roper St. Francis to restructure; CEO takes new role

The Medical Society of South Carolina and Bon Secours Mercy Health plan to restructure their Roper St. Francis Healthcare joint venture after Atrium Health decided to divest its 10% share of ownership. Roper St. Francis Healthcare CEO Lorraine Lutton has accepted a new position as a market operations executive at Bon Secours Mercy Health.

Electrify America installs 5 S.C. vehicle charging stations

The Reston, Va.-based subsidiary of Volkswagen Group of America has opened five electric vehicle charging stations across South Carolina, including one in the Lowcountry. Electrify America is installing a network of electric vehicle chargers across 42 states and Washington, D.C.

S.C. attorney general among 48 investigating Facebook

Alan Wilson is working with counterparts from 47 states to investigate possible antitrust violations by the social media platform. The attorneys general announced the investigation Tuesday.

South Carolina gets grant for rural broadband expansion

The $9.75 million in grant money from the U.S. Department of Agriculture will be used to improve high-speed internet access for nearly 4,000 households in Orangeburg County.
