On the eve of the final report of the Royal Commission into Aged Care, Q+A asks are we failing our older citizens? The pandemic has exposed nightmare stories of neglect for those living in aged care. Providers are calling for government spending to be doubled, and many taxpayers are willing to pay increased taxes to address the alarming state of the sector. What needs to change? And are there alternative models for aged care we should be exploring? Joining me on the panel: Katie Allen, Liberal Member for Higgins Clare O'Neil, Shadow Minister for Senior Australians and Aged Care Services Mike Baird, CEO of HammondCare and Former NSW Premier Jane Halton, Health expert and former head of Australia’s Finance Department Joseph Ibrahim, Professor at the Department of Forensic Medicine, Monash University Please submit a question via our website by 9am Thursday for the chance to ask the panel. Scroll down to watch Monday's toughest question asked by Claudia Strachan. 👇 Watch Q+A Thursday at 8.30pm on ABC TV, streamed live 8.30pm AEST on ABC iview or on our website. Looking forward to hearing your questions. Hamish Macdonald |
