Read about the rise of a surprising social media influencer |
| | | | | | | Kaitlyn Thorton, 20 year-old marketing student at WSU and popular online influencer, has gained a steady following for a surprising topic: her family’s 4th generation apple and pear orchard. “A lot of farmers don’t think what they do is that interesting,” she says. “They do it on a day-to-day basis, so they forget that a lot of their work is incredible, and people are amazed by it,” says Thorton, who uses her social channels to help connect consumers back to their food and seeks to one day grow her family business as well. “I’ve seen a lot of farmers who grow great quality crops but struggle on the business side,” Thornton says. “That’s why I decided to get a marketing degree.” Read more of her fascinating story in the photo essay, “The Ag Influencer.” |
