The government-owned National Broadband Network (NBN) in Australia is one of the deepest and most extensive fibre networks in the world and an industry expert believes it is being badly misused, when it could be providing much needed backhaul for that vast country's nascent 5G rollout.
And still on the subject of the NBN, which has never come near to making a profit in its existence, the company has taken to keeping the full extent of its quarterly financials under wraps henceforth and will only release half yearly results.
While the US is hyping up its efforts to attain leadership of the coming 6G space through an organisation called the NextG Alliance, China is already putting its money where its mouth is. China has launched a 6G experimental satellite.
The latest battleground for the US and China is Egypt, where an American official has warned authorities that they should avoid using Chinese technology for their 5G networks. Will Egypt buckle under like a host of US allies or will it follows Brazil's lead and tell the US to mind its own business?
