A TIME Magazine “New Scientific Discovery:” Brain Training Breakthrough TIME Magazine just released its list of top New Scientific Discoveries. In this list of fascinating breakthroughs—which includes everything from gravity waves to mummified bird wings—is one key result in brain training: the new discovery showing that a specific speed-of-processing brain training exercise can significantly reduce the risk of dementia. The discovery was made as part of the analysis of a well-respected, gold-standard study funded by the National Institutes of Health called the Advanced Cognitive Training for Independent and Vital Elderly (ACTIVE) Study. It’s thefirst time ever that any intervention has been shown to have a significant impact on the risk of dementia in a randomized controlled trial. Which makes it one of the top 100 scientific discoveries of 2016! Is the brain-training exercise available? The speed-of-processing training used in the study is now exclusively available as the exercise “Double Decision” in BrainHQ. It’s an online exercise that improves the speed and accuracy with which the brain can process visual information. As our CEO Dr. Henry Mahncke said when he heard this news, “we are honored to be entrusted with advancing this science, bringing it out of the lab and into the world.” |
