Time to up the ante on the boosters

Something has been happening while most of us have not been paying much attention.
Steadily, over the past few weeks, the number of Covid cases in the country - and the county - has been rising.
From 30,000 nationally in September, the latest figures are almost 50,000 and sadly the numbers in hospital and those dying are also starting to rise.
Many of us have recently been enjoying more freedoms following the lifting of restrictions and double jabs - holidays, meals out and even trips to the cinema and theatre have all been back on the agenda.
But with a virus like Covid, which can mutate quickly, there is a price to be paid for this freedom.
It would appear that the triumph of the initial vaccine roll-out has not been repeated with the boosters and we are running behind at a time when the efficacy of our first vaccinations are waning.
Add to that the spread of Covid in school populations and a perfect storm is brewing just in time for the winter.
Time to up the ante on the boosters before danger signs become a claxon.
