Chrome fixes another 2022 zero-day

Well, greetings friends.

Hope you had a good weekend. Another day, another... zero-day vulnerability?

Let's discuss.

What happened?

Here's your quick rundown of what happened:
  • Google has confirmed yet another zero-day vulnerability is impacting Chrome.
  • It's the ninth one this year.
  • An urgent update has started rolling out across all platforms.
  • Google says it's aware that an exploit for CVE-2022-4262 is active in the wild, but hasn't yet provided any info on how this is taking place.

Why does it matter?

Here's why I think this matters to IT.
  • Experts say it's very likely that this vulnerability allows remote code execution.
  • Ostensibly, a threat actor could cause any script or malware payload to be executed on a victim's device. Most often, it means they can exploit such a vulnerability when users visit a malicious website.
  • It's recommended that users apply the security update as soon as possible.
