Timken Co. to reduce Gaffney workforce by 150

One of Gaffney’s largest industrial employers will reduce its workforce from about 550 to about 400 over the next several months. Timken Co. announced upcoming workforce reductions last week.

Wofford College has broken ground for construction of its Chandler Center for Environmental Studies, named in honor of longtime college supporters J. Harold and Delores Wilson Chandler. The 20,000-square-foot facility is scheduled for a Fall 2020 opening.

Meals on Wheels of Greenville gets $5,000 gift 

Meals on Wheels of Greenville has received $5,000 from the Big Lots Foundation’s Fall Exclaim Grant. The funds will support the organization’s daily meal program for homebound individuals in Greenville County. Meals on Wheels of Greenville has more than 1,350 homebound clients that receive daily meals. The funds received from Big Lots Foundation will support the purchase, production and distribution of the meals.

Three new, 155-foot cranes arrived at the S.C. Ports Authority’s Columbus Street Terminal with the sunrise this morning. The new cranes, made by China-based Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co. Ltd., are eventually bound for the Wando Terminal in Mount Pleasant.
