The ex-Googler says the company bends over backward with perks and autonomy to the point that employees become entitled and neglect important work -- a problem experts say can be resolved by clarifying the social purpose of everyday tasks.

Survey: 83% of federal employees have work-life conflicts
Survey data from more than 64,000 federal employees showed 83% experienced conflict between their professional and personal or family life. The survey found 35% were able to telework and 54% had flexible work schedules, and among these groups at least 75% said the benefits improved performance and morale and made it more likely they would stay at their current agency.

Survey: Women, minorities in health IT face pay disparity
Men in the health IT sector make more than $123,000 annually on average, while women make 82% of that at slightly more than $100,000, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Minorities make 12% less than white employees do, and minority women make almost $26,000 less than white men do, according to a survey by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society.

While employees take about four sick days per year, a report found the number of presenteeism days, which can mean low productivity, was 57.5 per year. Employers may reduce the problem by addressing common issues that can lead to employees coming to work sick, including migraines, arthritis, obesity, diabetes, depression and cancer.
