Tire fire burns on

with Jennifer Wadsworth | Assistant metro editor

Thanks for stopping by. Here are some of our top headlines this morning.

Tire fire

A shuttered tire dump was going on its 10th day ablaze Wednesday when officials say they had about 65% of it under control. But sparks continue to reignite flames here and there, and inmates at a nearby state prison remained under evacuation, as David Mitchell reports.

St. George incorporation

Lawyers for East Baton Rouge say the push to create the new city of St. George is fatally flawed because organizers failed to fully tell voters what services would be provided to its 86,000 residents and never disclosed a funding plan. Backers of incorporation call that argument a distraction, another attempt to derail their effort.

Buyouts in Denham Springs

The state has begun accepting voluntary buyout applications from certain residents of a Denham Springs neighborhood prone to flooding. Jacqueline DeRobertis has the details.

Check back later for more news.
