Report: Antibiotic Resistance More Prevalent in Device-Associated Infections

Antimicrobial resistance was found to be higher in medical device-associated infections than in those resulting from surgical procedures, according to a new report from the CDC’s National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN). 

Workplace Violence Legislation Moves Forward

On Nov. 11, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to approve The Workplace Violence Prevention for Health Care and Social Services Act of 2019.

HFAP provided a handy list of what CoPs were to change, and stated that “all regulations are effective November 29, 2019 with the exceptions of those regarding QAPI in CAHs and the antibiotic stewardship programs in acute care hospitals and CAHs, which are effective at later dates, as noted.”
