Apple's new iPhone 15 available for preorder from today

The phone starts at $799 and tops out at $1,599, but do you really need to upgrade?

Apple’s new iPhone 15 is available to preorder from today. The lineup includes the 6.1-inch iPhone 15, the 6.7-inch 15 Plus, the 6.1-inch iPhone 15 Pro, and the 6.7-inch Pro Max.

Customers keen to get their hands on one of the new devices could place an order from a long list of countries – including the U.S., Canada, Europe, Australia, and China – starting at 5 a.m. PT, with shipping starting next Friday. Having said that, shipping dates can soon start to slip, depending on demand.

This year Apple made it possible to get a head start on preorders. Until 9 p.m. PT on Thursday, customers could select their iPhone 15 model and preferred payment method and leave the item in their shopping bag, so that today they’ll only be one click away from placing the order when preorders open.

Motorola's new handsets look incredible and won't break the bank

The three devices are launching in Europe first, with a U.S. release possibly coming later

A day after Apple unveiled new iPhones, Motorola has launched three rather striking – and much more affordable – Android handsets.

The best of these is the Motorola Edge 40 Neo featuring a 6.55-inch pOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate for silky smooth movement, and 1,300 nits peak brightness.

What sounds like a solid camera package comes in the form of a 50MP Ultra Pixel camera sensor with all-pixel focus technology, along with 16x faster lowlight performance for nighttime shots.

It also offers a 5,000mAh battery and 68-watt TurboPower fast charging that lets you boost the battery to 50% in just 15 minutes.

Motorola’s new Edge 40 Neo is the most expensive of the three and costs 300 British pounds (about $375).

As Netflix ends its DVD rental service, Scarecrow steps in

Scarecrow's library has 145,000 titles – that's 10 times larger than Netflix's online offering globally

After a quarter of a century of mailing out DVD rentals to customers across the U.S., Netflix recently announced that it will be ending the service later this month.

Convinced that there’s still a call for such a service, Scarecrow Video, the biggest movie and TV rental store in the U.S., has stepped up, making its vast library of content available across the country as part of a mail-based rental service.

Each shipment of up to six DVDs or Blu-ray discs costs $12, which includes postage, and needs to be returned within 14 days.

Scarecrow actually started its rent-by-mail service during the pandemic, according to the Seattle Times, testing it with 600 customers across 25 states. With Netflix recently announcing its intention to close its own mail service, Scarecrow decided it was the right time to take its own offering nationwide ...
