It brings us great joy to announce our newest collaborative effort is on tap for pours and growler fills to go!
Toasted Knead is a 4.9% kvass-style sour ale brewed at Kelsen in collaboration with Liquid Therapy, the NH Food Bank, Backyard, Outhaus, and Martha’s Exchange.
What is a kvass, you ask? Kvass is a traditional Slavic and Baltic fermented beverage made from rye bread. The color of the bread creates the color of the kvass. Typically below 1% ABV and usually considered a non alcoholic beverage outside of the beer world.
We drew inspiration from this old world tradition by creating a mash bill consisting of 300 pounds of rye bread, 20 pounds of raisins, and Pilsner malt.
Toasted Knead has a pale yellow, hazy appearance, and is brimming with aromas of freshly baked rye bread. A light tartness is backed up by notes of spicy rye bread and lemon citrus. Think lemon poppyseed muffins. A lively carbonation lends to a crisp, dry finish. The end result is clean, balanced, and quaffable.
We couldn’t be happier to end the year on this positive note. A portion of the proceeds from Toasted Knead will go to the NH Food Bank. We would also like to encourage you to keep an eye out for this beer to make it to the taprooms of our collaborators early next year.
We are open 11AM-8PM today, 11AM-4PM on Christmas Eve, and closed on Christmas Day.
