World’s biggest PC show kicks off next week

We already have some hints as to what to expect at Computex 2024

Computex promises some fantastic innovations this year, particularly in light of all the recent advancements in generative AI and the scramble by companies like Microsoft to incorporate them into their own products.

The show runs from June 4 through 7 and chip giants like Intel, AMD, and Nvidia will be in attendance, Digital Trends reported.

We already know that Intel, for example, will be talking about its upcoming Lunar Lake laptop CPUs, and also teasing its Arrow Lake desktop chips. We’ll hear more about AMD’s upcoming Zen 5 chips, too, and hopefully find out if the company is going to do something it’s never done before and launch Zen 5 for laptops before desktops ...

T-Mobile to buy most of U.S. Cellular in multibillion-dollar deal

The $4.4 billion pact further consolidates the U.S. carrier market

T-Mobile is buying U.S. Cellular’s wireless operations and certain spectrum assets, the Associated Press reported. U.S. Cellular is the fifth-largest carrier in the country despite being a regional carrier based mostly in the Chicago area.

U.S. Cellular’s more than 4 million customers can remain on their current plan or move to an unlimited T-Mobile plan with no switching costs.

“With this deal, T-Mobile can extend the superior Un-carrier value and experiences that we’re famous for to millions of U.S. Cellular customers and deliver them lower-priced, value-packed plans, and better connectivity on our best-in-class nationwide 5G network,” said Mike Sievert, CEO of T-Mobile ...

More details emerge on new Beats Pill speaker

The latest development reinforces expectations of a summer release for the updated device

We’ve seen celebrities out in public with it, and we’ve seen leaked renders of it. And now, the next-generation Beats Pill speaker has shown up on Apple's regulatory compliance website for Europe, suggesting its launch is just around the corner, MacRumors reported.

The Beats Pill first appeared as a Bluetooth speaker in 2012, a couple of years before Apple acquired Beats. The device had a few updates along the way before it was discontinued in 2022.

The new Beats Pill is expected to come with a USB-C charging port, upgraded Bluetooth, and a built-in lanyard. The price is unknown — the last version launched for $230, but dropped to $180 ...

Director responds to criticism of Immaculate's dark visuals on streaming platforms

A viewer watching the movie at home described the visuals as ‘comically dark’

A movie fan who streamed the recently released Sydney Sweeney horror movie Immaculate complained on social media about some scenes appearing overly dark, and now the movie’s director, Michael Mohan, has made his feelings known, the The Hollywood Reporter reported.

“This was absolutely not done intentionally,” Mohan responded on social media, adding that he has “no control over the compression specs of each platform.”

He said that after comparing the movie’s appearance on various platforms, Apple’s iTunes “is the closest to what we wanted, brighter than the rest.” But that was the very platform that the person who complained about it watched it on ...
