Elon Musk and his company X (formerly Twitter) have defeated a lawsuit alleging that around 6,000 former employees at the company were owed at least $500 million in severance pay when they were laid off following Musk's takeover, Bloomberg reported. The plaintiffs said the ex-employees only received severance worth one month’s pay, and claimed that the provisions of the federal Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) meant they were entitled to more. But the U.S. District Judge handling the case in San Francisco ruled on Tuesday that the employees’ claims weren’t covered by the ERISA “as the company told employees after Musk’s takeover that any who were let go would only get cash payouts,” Bloomberg reported ... |

Samsung unveiled a number of new devices at its Unpacked event today, including the latest iteration of its flagship foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold 6. It starts at $1,900 for 256GB storage and 12GB RAM, with 512GB and 1TB versions also available. It’s now the slimmest and lightest Galaxy Z Fold device yet and uses a new dual rail hinge structure that's able to better handle external impacts. Paramount Pictures has dropped the first trailer for Gladiator II, the sequel that fans have patiently waited 24 years for. The trailer opens with Paul Mescal's Lucius reminiscing about the day he witnessed Maximus die while slaying his uncle Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix) in the arena. "I never forgot it, that a slave could take revenge against an emperor,” Mescal says. Lucius is now living in Numidia with his wife and child, but the Roman army invades Numidia, capturing Lucius and forcing him to fight as a gladiator. Microsoft is rolling out price hikes and tier changes for Xbox Game Pass, its video game subscription service. Notably, Microsoft will no longer allow people to buy Game Pass for Console. While existing subscriptions won't be affected, people will have to instead opt for Xbox Game Pass Core or the new Xbox Game Pass Standard tier, which is launching "in the coming months." Starting July 10 for new subscribers and September 12 for existing members, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will go from $17 a month to $20 a month; PC Game Pass will get a price hike from $10 a month to $12 a month; and a 12-month Xbox Game Pass Core subscription will go up in price from $60 to $75 ... |
