"Rivering" is from my sixth manuscript of the same name. I am grateful to the editors of South Dakota Review for making a home for it. The poem was inspired by the flooding of Native lands by the government-built Garrison Dam in North Dakota, for which in my professional capacity I was able to write a successful grant in environmental reparations. In publishing, "rivering" refers to a gap in typesetting that appears to run through the text.
