| May 13, 2022 Welcome to the BRAND NEW Stock Dork Premarket Report, your go-to guide for the day's biggest trading news and hottest premarket stocks. Today is Friday, May 13th. Let's get ready to trade! |
Stocks slid again on Thursday, with the S&P 500 losing 0.1% and the Dow falling 0.3%. The Nasdaq edged up by less than 0.1%, and the small-cap Russell 2K gained 1.2%. Today, futures are pointing to a potential relief rally at the open. S&P 500 futures are showing a 1.2% gain heading into the trading session. Sherwin-Williams Co [SHW] - Last Close: $274.54 Sherwin Williams is rallying in the wake of a recent news report. The paint company's chief executive was quoted in a Reuters article earlier this week, and his comments revealed the company is beginning to use its own trucks in order to avoid supply-chain bottlenecks in the transport system. Using its own trucks is less efficient, CEO John Mirikis admitted, but also necessary to meet booming demand. The Reuters report was released earlier in the week, but SHW is showing big gains in today's premarket without any major news. SHW is leading the S&P 500 with a 6.2% gain. Affirm Holdings [AFRM] - Last Close: $18.04 Strong earnings results are lifting shares of Affirm. The fintech firm reported a fiscal Q2 loss of $0.19 per share on revenues of $354.8 million, beating the consensus estimate of a $0.56 per-share loss on revenues of $344 million in revenues. Affirm's double-line beat prompted the company to hike its full-year sales outlook from $1.31 billion to $1.33 billion, meeting the Street's consensus targets. The company also reported strong growth in active users and merchandise volume. AFRM is up 30.8% on active premarket trading volume. Allena Pharmaceuticals [ALNA] - Last Close: $0.133 Allena Pharmaceuticals is on our list again as the stock's rally continues. The biotech stock closed yesterday's session with a 70.5% gain, but the gains didn't stop at the closing bell. For the second day in a row, the stock is surging despite no major news. The registered direct offering announced last week remains the most recent press release of note. Despite the lack of an obvious catalyst, Allena surged into the after-hours trading session, and it's up again in today's premarket. ALNA is one of this morning's most active stocks, and it's up 21.1%. Calithera Biosciences [CALA] - Last Close: $0.1611 Shares of Calithera Biosciences are rallying ahead of the opening bell. The clinical-stage biopharma firm reported its Q1 financial results and highlights after Tuesday's closing bell, and the report didn't get a warm reception in the markets. Calithera fell from $0.2047 per share to $0.1600 per share following the after-hours earnings release on Tuesday. The report also prompted a downgrade from Wells Fargo, which lowered its price target on the stock from $3 to $2 but maintained its rating of "equal-weight." CALA is rebounding from its rough run in today's premarket. The stock is up 44.6% on active trading volume. |
