| Hi Do, Here are Todd’s latest fun picks to take your financial skills to the next level... We normally hit the serious finance stuff pretty hard around here. So this week it's time for something different. Why? Because money doesn't matter all that much (once you get past abject poverty). A strange claim for a guy who made his life work about investing and building wealth. But what matters is your happiness. Money is just a lubricant. It makes life flow better, removes obstacles, and allows you to buy some convenience. It opens doors, and reduces barriers. But that's about it. Money can't buy happiness because happiness is an internal experience: money is an external thing. They aren't connected (except loosely). Students tell me how the thing that sets my Expectancy Wealth Planning course apart (watch video testimonials here) is that it's a holistic solution - integrating advanced financial concepts and inviolable wealth math with the "squishy" reality of human fulfillment and uncertainty - to form a cohesive whole. Apparently that's not common, but it's essential because in the end, the only value of money is how it contributes to your happiness. So why not start with the end in mind? The scientific study of happiness has exploded over the past three decades - everything from the neurobiology of body language, to oxytocin and love. We've come a long way from the feel-good days of monkey chants and self-affirmations. In fact, this article simplifies it all to just three equations. Seriously! Find out what the latest in science has to say in this easy-to-read article from The Atlantic. Here's a contrary view to the above article about happiness - equally true - but a very different conclusion. Fortunately, that's no reason for one viewpoint to preclude the other. There's great value in understanding contradictory (and equally true) viewpoints until they become one. And if that made no sense, then this article will make it worse. The recent "Ask Todd Anything" session on April 10th was value packed. All of you that attended brought great questions to the call resulting in a lot of actionable financial insights. Topics included current markets, portfolio construction strategies, risk management, how to safely park money, and much more. You can listen to, or download, the recording here. Onward and upward!
