I've never failed at a New Year's resolution - a perfect track record!

But that's only because I've never made one.

Setting goals only works for things you can cross off a list like buying a car or taking a 3 week dream vacation.

In short, all the stuff that makes life worth living are processes you can never cross off a list. They're never finished because you will live them until you're six feet underground.

The nuances are important to doing it well, but this article should at least redirect your thinking away from New Year's resolutions so you can get started in the right direction. If you want something in life, there's a smarter way to achieve it than conventional goal-setting.
