| While the Farm Bill’s reauthorization may face yet another standstill this year, readers did not want to miss out on Cannabis Business Times’ coverage of the 2024 draft legislation as their interest in related articles caused a web traffic surge in June. In particular, a piece featuring the DEA’s position on THCA and how its inclusion in a Farm Bill amendment could impact not only the U.S. hemp industry, but also cannabis seed sales and cannabis flower marketed as hemp, led CBT’s top 10 most-read articles this month. “Any hemp, anywhere, whether it’s in the ground or whether it’s in a finished good anywhere along that line, would have to adhere to the [proposed] total THC definition, whereas now it just applies with respect to that pre-harvest material,” international cannabis attorney Rod Kight said in the article. Additional coverage of the Farm Bill and a possible ban on hemp-derived cannabinoids—from a national alcohol group pressuring lawmakers to address a “public health crisis” to industry reactions to Rep. Mary Miller’s proposed amendment to another piece about that amendment possibly being included in a House committee’s appropriation bill—also landed in the top 10. Overall, six of CBT’s top 10 articles for June centered on the Farm Bill and/or hemp.
