The Federal Housing Finance Agency has formally asked for public comment on the role played by the Federal Home Loan Bank system, with the aim of collecting feedback on how the regulatory statement governing the system might be improved. The FHFA also is seeking views on what benchmarks it could apply to the system's performance toward its mission.

Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago President Austan Goolsbee noted that the latest inflation report showed some progress but that "there's still room for improvement." Meanwhile, Minneapolis Federal Reserve President Neel Kashkari said that interest rates would likely need to be held "a while longer," and he also noted that there is uncertainty about exactly how monetary policy is affecting the economy.
