It's a shame we can't all be together in the streets of Edinburgh this August, but the show must go on, and it's going online

Dear Voornaam,

August is always a busy time for us at The Scotsman. The schools go back, football returns and thousands of artists, performers and tourists come to Scotland to take part in Edinburgh's world-leading festivals.

Our writers, reviewers and editors take huge pride in bringing the best of the Festivals to our readers and making sure that artists who've sunk their hearts and souls into their performances receive exposure and our readers can make informed decisions on how to spend their valuable time.

This month, the streets of Edinburgh feel very different. The street performers are absent, the crowds have gone and with them, some of the colour that makes Scotland's capital such a special place this time of year is muted.

But we're taking our commitment to provide the best arts coverage in Scotland no less seriously. The show must go on and, as performers and artists innovate to bring their performances to audiences remotely, we're here too with the latest reviews, previews and guides to what's on in August.
