Workers who say they have too much to do and not enough time to do it often have too many unproductive habits, such as socializing with colleagues too much or getting distracted by web browsing or social media, writes Kevin Nichols, a partner with The Oechsli Institute. He recommends a three-part strategy that involves acknowledging the bad habits, replacing them with better ones and setting boundaries on the unproductive activities.

Companies are experimenting with various work models as they move away from a rigid 9-to-5 in-office culture, including four companies that are trying different ways of working. "If they need to collaborate with colleagues, it's probably best to meet up in the office, but if they need some quiet time to buckle down on an urgent task with a deadline, perhaps working from home is best," said Arne-Christian van der Tang, TomTom's chief HR officer. "The choice is theirs to make."

U.S. Soccer offers single pay structure for women, men

The U.S. Soccer Federation has announced it will be offering identical contract proposals to the players' unions of the women's and men's national teams to help address equal pay concerns. The federation said in a statement that it "firmly believes that the best path forward for all involved, and for the future of the sport in the United States, is a single pay structure for both senior national teams."

Room with a View: Top US cities for remote work

Bend, Ore., tops the list of smaller cities with the most remote work applications, followed by Asheville, N.C., and Wilmington, Del., according to LinkedIn. Of larger cities, Cape Coral, Fla., and Charleston, S.C., topped the list, followed by three more Florida cities.

At Summit One Vanderbilt, visitors may have trouble finding their own center immersing themselves among all the mirrors and taking in the view while standing on the glass-bottom observatory.
