| | Van snelle hap tot luxe diners | Een kopje koffie in de trein, een tosti in de stationsrestauratie of een luxe diner met truffels in de Oriënt Express. Het Spoorwegmuseum brengt alle verhalen over eten en drinken in de trein bij elkaar in de tentoonstelling Tosti’s Truffels Treinen. In de tentoonstelling toont het museum prachtige collectie, waaronder een aantal fraaie internationale restauratierijtuigen, serviezen, menukaarten, perronkarren, affiches, foto’s en nog veel meer. De tentoonstelling is aangepast aan de eisen van de 1,5 meter samenleving.

| Restauratierijtuig uit 1951 prachtig gerestaureerd | Speciaal voor de tentoonstelling heeft het Spoorwegmuseum het Plan D-restauratierijtuig uit 1951 gerestaureerd. Het rijtuig heeft schitterende interieurdetails en laat een mooi tijdsbeeld zien van de wederopbouw in de jaren 50. De wagon stond jarenlang in het depot van het museum, mede dankzij een bijdrage van de Vereniging Vrienden van het Spoorwegmuseum, Stichting Goede Doelen Nh1816 en de BankGiro Loterij heeft het museum het rijtuig nu kunnen restaureren. Het rijtuig is daarbij weer in zijn oorspronkelijke staat teruggebracht, inclusief de prachtige bar zoals te zien op de foto. Het rijtuig zal voor het eerst te bewonderen zijn in de tentoonstelling Tosti's Truffels Treinen en voor publiek toegankelijk zijn. | | |

| Bijzondere rijtuigen bijeengebracht | Prachtige restauratierijtuigen uit binnen- en buitenland | | Rheingold | In Amerika waren ze al bekend, maar voor Europa was het revolutionair: wagons met een glazen dak waardoor je beter naar buiten kon kijken. De Duitse spoorwegen lieten er vijf maken voor hun luxe Rheingold-trein. Vooraan zat een bar waar reizigers een drankje konden halen, boven genoot je van het uitzicht. | |
| TEE | Op initiatief van NS werd eind jaren vijftig een netwerk van internationale luxetreinen opgezet. Onder de naam Trans Europ Express (TEE) werden zo tien West-Europese landen met elkaar verbonden. Deze West-Duitse restauratiewagen uit 1965 heeft als onderdeel van de TEE ook in Nederland gereden. | |

| Pullmanrijtuig | De Amerikaanse spoorwegondernemer George Pullman ontwikkelde eind 19e eeuw luxe wagons waar de reiziger de hele reis kon blijven zitten: alle maaltijden werden naar je toe gebracht. Dit rijtuig is onder meer ingezet in de chique Étoile du Nord-expresstreinen van Amsterdam naar Parijs. | |

| Eerste bruiklenen gearriveerd | Twee rijtuigen uit Belgie overgekomen |

| Bardisco en I Resto | Woensdag 10 juni kwamen de eerste bruiklenen het Spoorwegmuseum binnenrollen. De Belgische spoorwegen stelden IResto en SR3 Bardisco ter beschikking. Ze werden opgehaald door een museumlocomotief uit de 1700 serie. De Belgische rijtuigen werden en worden ingezet in vakantietreinen richting de sneeuw of de zon, en in treinen naar de grote popfestivals. Beide rijtuigen zijn tijdens de tentoonstelling vrij toegankelijk. | | |

| Van verleden naar toekomst | In zes thema's van vroeger naar nu | | spoorwegbuffet | Hoe ging het vroeger? Op deze Franse prent 'Un buffet de chemin de fer' (spoorwegbuffet) zie je wat er in de beginjaren van het spoor gebeurde als een trein op een station stopte. Terwijl er water en kolen werden bijgevuld voor de stoomlocomotief, bestormden de reizigers massaal de stationsrestauratie. Want binnen 20 minuten reed de trein weer verder. | | |

| Wissel naar de toekomst | Wat brengt de toekomst? Speciaal voor Tosti’s Truffels Treinen heeft kok en kunstenaar Jasper Udink ten Cate als Creative Chef een visie ontwikkeld op hoe eten in de trein er in de toekomst uit kan gaan zien. Zijn antwoord is: hyperlokaal! Alles wat je in de trein eet, is daar ter plekke gegroeid of gekweekt: tomaten, sprinkhanen, algen en zeewier. Wat zou jij eten? | | |
