Trading Hurry for Delight

Perhaps the most common response to “how are you?” this time of year is “busy!”

As spring prepares to turn to summer, all kinds of occasions arise to mark the moment. End-of-school year parties and graduation ceremonies, Mother’s Day moments, tournaments and recitals and performances—so many good things, so little time.

On the latest episode of Viral Jesus with Heather Thompson Day, author Ashley Hales encourages listeners to live a spacious life by slowing down. She explores the ideas of healthy rhythms, cultivating rest, and the beauty of the Sabbath. Rather than giving listeners one more thing to do, Hales gives them permission to receive intentional rest from the Lord.

As we wrap teacher gifts and plan celebrations, run seemingly endless errands and begin to wish we could be in two places at once, may Hales’ words be a calming conviction: sometimes, taking a break is the holy work God has for us to do.
