Dear Reader,
I want to live for as long as I can. Having cancer twice really put that goal into sharp focus for me. But it's also not enough for me to just simply live longer. I want to live longer in good health, so that I can enjoy a long life with my wife and children. I want to be able to enjoy retirement one day. I want to enjoy playing with grandchildren in the future. I want to be free to travel and do many things.
When I first started in medicine, it wasn’t clear to me how to accomplish this. But during my career at Mayo Clinic, I’ve learned a few things. Yes, death is inevitable. But premature death or growing old with chronic disease is not. Live Younger Longer outlines six steps to preserving the essential characteristics of youth while also fighting disease and extending life.
This book offers in-depth insights on the following and more: - The best foods to eat and why
- Increasing physical activity and improving fitness
- Why your sleep habits matter
- The dangers of stress and what to do about them
- The true impact of alcohol and tobacco on our bodies
- How to make changes that will last a lifetime
You don’t need to make big life changes or summon depths of willpower. What you need instead is an open mind, some creativity and a commitment to living your life at its fullest. I wrote this book to help others. It summarizes what I have learned about what we can all do to Live Younger Longer. |
