Be careful out there

JUNE 20, 2025

One phenomenon I’d never heard of before I got deeper into trading was the concept of “triple” or “quad witching.”

These rare days are days on which multiple types of derivative contracts expire on the same day.

Today is one of those days. Check this out:

$6.8 trillion worth of options on stock indexes, ETFs, equity index futures, and individual stocks will be expiring by the end of today’s trading session.

In fact, it might be the biggest triple-witching on record.

What does that mean?

It means there’s going to be a LOT of activity in today’s markets, likely accompanied by elevated liquidity and volume as people try to close out these contracts in the black.

And that means there will be volatility.

It could be a huge opportunity to catch some short-term waves higher, but if you’re not extremely clear on what you’re looking at, it might be a good time to sit on the sidelines and watch and learn how things play out.

I still have an open trade on Bank of America (BOA) that I’ll be holding onto (unless it spikes this afternoon before the close 🤞)

But I won’t necessarily be looking to open anything else today, unless I’m tipped off to a really good opportunity from one of our experts.

If I am, I’ll be sure to let you know over on Telegram.

In other news, it sounds like there won’t be a clear answer on the Iran situation for a while:

This story hasn’t been a big deal for markets so far, unless you’re trading oil.

Even for oil, the response has been a little less drastic than many feared, but prices probably won’t drop much below current levels until there’s a bit more certainty about the outcome of this conflict.

We’ll see where it goes.

Enjoy your trading today, but beware the witching hour.

To your prosperity,
