Trump Administration Halts Rebate Rule, PBMs Rejoice

Thursday's announcement by the Trump administration that it was pulling back on its proposed drug rebate rule garnered strong support from pharmacy benefit managers (PBM). JC Scott, CEO of the Pharmaceutical Care Management Association, applauded the withdrawal of the policy, and the momentum carried over on to Wall Street. Cigna, UnitedHealth Group, CVS Health, and Anthem, all of which own a PBM, saw their respective stocks rise during morning trading.
