Good morning!

Today marks the three-year anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision, which returned abortion law to the states.

As Jennifer Graham reports, one key piece of information remains absent in the public conversation: the actual number of abortions that take place in the U.S. every year.

Reporting to the federal government is voluntary, so the CDC’s most recent reports lack data from several states. The data is also more than two years old, and the emergence of the “self-managed abortion” — abortion drugs obtained via telehealth — has made abortions even more difficult to track.

Trump announces ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran

Lauren Irwin writes:

President Donald Trump said Israel and Iran agreed to a ceasefire on Monday.

In a social media post, Trump offered “congratulations to everyone,” and said Iran agreed to a ceasefire and Israel would end strikes as of Monday at 10 p.m. MDT (midnight Tuesday EDT). He said a final end to the “12 day war” would come another 12 hours after the cessation of attacks.

After Trump’s announcement, Iran lobbed a barrage of strikes at Israel killing at least three. A few minutes after the ceasefire deadline, Iran launched another wave of missiles at Israel, leaving the agreement in a tenuous position. Shortly after 10:30 MDT Monday night, Iran said the ceasefire was in effect, according to The Associated Press.

Earlier, Trump celebrated the United States military’s “monumental” strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities on Saturday and floated the idea that he was supportive of potential regime change in the country.

But questions remain on whether the strikes by the U.S. and Israel will lead to the end of Iran’s nuclear program, and how much damage was done to Fordow, Iran’s underground nuclear facility.

Red, white and blue pride: So where does Utah land in a national ‘patriotism’ poll?

As the Fourth of July approaches, you may be wondering: Where does the Beehive State rank on patriotic pride compared to other states?

Pretty high — but not quite in the Top 10, according to a recently released WalletHub report.

According to the “2025’s Most Patriotic States in America” report, Utah is ranked 12th. (Virginia is ranked as the most patriotic state in the country.)

The report measures 13 key indicators ranging from military enlistment numbers and veteran populations to volunteerism and voting in presidential elections.

Read more from Jason Swensen about the aspects that make Utah patriotic — and the metrics where it ranks lower.
