| Hello. New details about the suspected gunman's presence near Donald Trump's golf course in Florida have puzzled locals. Madeline Halpert reports from the affluent West Palm Beach community. In the UK, Jeremy Ball and Khush Sameja investigate how a labour exploitation scandal and the changing demands of the fast-fashion industry have led to factory closures in Leicester. We're also looking at the real-life succession battle engulfing the Murdoch family, and the rescue of a man and his dog from floods in Poland. | |

TOP OF THE AGENDA | Questions raised about gunman's presence | | The perimeter of the 27-hole course is lined by well-manicured shrubbery and tall palm trees. Credit: Reuters | In revealing the first charges against Ryan Wesley Routh, the gunman suspected of attempting to kill Donald Trump, authorities disclosed two key facts. First, the gunman did not fire any shots. Secondly, according to mobile phone records cited by officials, he had been lurking on the public side of the fence surrounding the golf course since 01:59 local time on Sunday morning. The foiled plot has left Trump’s neighbours in Palm Beach with pressing questions, reports Madeline Halpert. Did the suspect know the former president would be coming to play golf, or was it a guess? How could he have gone undetected for so long, hiding in the bushes with a rifle? Not to mention Routh's possible motive: the suspect previously said on social media that he voted for Trump in 2016 before souring on him.

| Fast fashion in crisis | | Paramjit Kaur, 61, worked as a sewing machine operator at several Leicester companies. Credit: BBC | The boom in fast fashion created a profitable industry in the English city of Leicester, where garment manufacturers set up factories to supply retail giants. But the combination of the Covid pandemic and scrutiny of the industry's labour practices has dealt a blow to the sector. |

"They would show 'full pay' on the payslip but once the money was in my bank, I was told to return it," she said. "I used to give it back in cash. Three or four factories used to do this." When asked why she returned the money, Paramjit said: "It felt dirty and bad but I needed to work. No-one was paying more." |
