| Hello. Former US President Donald Trump was the target of an assassination attempt - the second in two months. My US colleagues detail what we know about the suspected gunman and his assassination plot. From Australia, Tiffanie Turnbull reports on how a statue has come to symbolise the country's fraught relation with its colonial legacy. For BBC Africa Eye, Tyson Conteh and Courtney Bembridge investigate the plight of sex workers in Sierra Leone. Finally, we plunge into award-winning ocean photography. | |

TOP OF THE AGENDA | Gunman targets Trump at golf course | | The Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach is about 15 minutes from Trump's residence Mar-a-Lago. Credit: Getty Images | Donald Trump is safe following an apparent assassination attempt while he was playing golf at his West Palm Beach club in Florida. Describing the incident, officials said Security Service agents spotted the barrel of a rifle poking through some bushes and opened fire at the gunman. The man dropped the weapon - an AK47-style firearm and scope - and fled in a car. The suspect was later apprehended by police and is now in custody. The BBC's US partner, CBS News, reports the suspect is Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, of Hawaii. This is yet to be officially confirmed by law enforcement and a news conference is expected on Monday. The White House said President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris had been briefed about the incident. Both have expressed their relief that their political rival is unharmed.
- Analysis: Violence appears to have become a new normal in American politics - that does not make it less shocking, writes North America correspondent Anthony Zurcher.

| Lighting rod for colonial legacy debate | | The words "what goes around" were graffitied on the base of the severed statue. Credit: ABC News/Luke Bowden | A statue that has been severed from its feet in Hobart, the capital of Australia's island state of Tasmania, has reignited a discussion about colonial legacy. The effigy honoured the controversial surgeon-turned-premier William Crowther. |

|
| | More than 150 years ago, Crowther allegedly broke into a morgue, sliced open an Aboriginal leader’s head and stole his skull - triggering a grim tussle over the remaining body parts. His scandal overlooked, until recently he was remembered for offering free health care to the poor. That rankles Tasmanian Aboriginal people like Nala: "It's just a kick in the guts." |

| | | Isata is one of hundreds of sex workers in Makeni. Credit: BBC | BBC Africa Eye has spent four years following the lives of a group of sex workers in Makeni, about 200km (124 miles) from Sierra Leone's capital Freetown. It is a dangerous life - some of the women they met have contracted HIV. Others have been killed. But many feel there is little choice. |
