Top prosecutor: Some courthouse news made a splash this morning. President Trump has nominated a Jefferson Parish attorney as the next top federal prosecutor for the region, James Finn reports. Jimmy Swaggart dies: The Rev. Jimmy Swaggart died this morning. Swaggart, a well-known televangelist whose services at one time were broadcast on 200 TV stations, had a life filled with ups and downs. He was 90. Big Bill: The U.S. Senate narrowly passed President Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill Act" this morning. Louisiana's two senators were among the senators voting "yes," Mark Ballard reports. Car insurance law: Gov. Jeff Landry put his, well, Gov. Jeff Landry, on a controversial car insurance bill Monday. The sponsor of the bill the governor signed into law thinks it might bring down insurance rates. Others aren’t so sure, Alyse Pfeil reports. "#fakenews." (No offense, Jim, but I hope we don’t see you here this summer.) Did you get this newsletter forwarded from someone else? Sign up here.
