This could be our last chance to save public media.

Friend,

This morning, the Trump administration released its budget outline for 2018, complete with a plan to axe funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which funds hundreds of local NPR and PBS stations around the country along with many public-media programs.

This could be our last chance to save public media.

Years of public polling show that the American people consider support for public broadcasting to be among the most important uses of their tax dollars. Local public stations and community news are among the few remaining outlets that serve the needs of diverse communities so often overlooked by mainstream media.

Demand that Congress stop the Trump administration's plan to destroy public broadcasting.

In this political moment, when Trump is attacking journalists and fake news is continuing to proliferate, we need independent news outlets more than ever. Many of us look to programs like NewsHour, Frontline and Democracy Now! as these sources — all of which could disappear if Trump gets his way.

Tell Congress: Don't let Trump destroy NPR and PBS. We'll be delivering this petition to Congress next week, and we need your help to get enough signatures to make an impact.

Thanks for all that you do—

P.S. We've saved public broadcasting from cuts many times before. We can save it again — but only if we raise an outcry. Tell Congress to save NPR and PBS from Trump.
