  The Trump administration border crackdown is built on a mountain of minor prosecutions that typically end with no additional time in jail and a $10 fee, according to a USA TODAY analysis of thousands of federal cases. The cases leave defendants in essentially the same position as if they had not been prosecuted — still bound for deportation — but without their children.
